Experiencing one of the best seasons in Earlham College intercollegiate athletic history, the Quakers posted a 7-1 record including victories over Michigan State and Ohio universities in tournament play. Nancy Fink ’76 and Hannah Cope Richter ’78 were selected to the Midwest I team; Cynthia Evans Trueblood ’78, Patricia Cope Goss ’77, Marie Cope Nicholson ’76, and Coach Carol Reese to the Midwest II team. Emma Melchior Simpson ’76 was chosen as a substitute. They participated in the National Tournament at Philadelphia. Fink was the team’s most valuable player, Dorothy Holcomb Doherty ’79 was the most promising first-year student, and Susan Snipes-Wells ’78 was the most improved player. Comprising the rest of the team were Sandra Leavitt Geeslin ’78, Lynn Fowler deNeira ’76, Becky Lynn Moss ’77, Amanda Mills Wilcox ’76, Robin Kester Patterson ’77, Linnea Koons Matthews ’79 and Elaine Hoffman ’79.
