The 1954 Men’s Soccer Team joins the 1963 and 1965 squads to become the third unit from that program selected for induction into the Earlham Athletics Hall of Fame.

The first of 25 teams coached by 1993 Earlham Hall of Fame inductee Charlie Matlack, this team celebrated the school’s first Midwestern Collegiate Soccer Conference championship with a 4-0-1 record. The squad finished the season at 7-2-1 with victories over Big 10 opponents Purdue and Ohio State. The team put together five consecutive shutouts and six for the season. Dieter Schneppat, Phil Bright, Jerry Mitchener, Mike McKean and Giles Gamble were selected to the 1954 all-conference team.
