1999-00 Men's Soccer

Induction Year: 2014-15

Induction Class of 2015

The 1999 men’s soccer team finished with a 16-3-1 record including a 5-3-1 record in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) competition. Earlham began the season winning 13 straight games. During that span, the Quakers outscored their opponents 35-5.

“We beat some very good teams in the first 12 games of the 1999 season,” head coach Roy Messer said. “13 consecutive wins is not something you are going to see all that often.”

After a season-opening loss to Denison on Oct. 16, Earlham defeated in-state rivals Wabash and Rose-Hulman in the final two home games of the regular season. The 1999 men’s soccer team returned to Matlack Field for a date with Ohio Wesleyan in the NCAC Tournament championship. Despite falling to the Battling Bishops 3-0 in the game, the 1999 men’s soccer team was one of the best in school history, achieving a top-10 national ranking as well as being the No. 1-ranked team in the region.
