These impressive teams posted consecutive undefeated seasons at Earlham. In 1941, the Quakers were victorious in all six of their dual meets, captured the Little State title, and finished 10th at the NCAA National Collegiate Championships. In 1942, Earlham won all four of its dual meets before placing second in the Little State competition. Coach David Hawk’s squads defeated opposition from Ball State and Butler, among other colleges. Both the 1941 and 1942 teams from Earlham defeated the Ohio Conference champions from Oberlin in a season-ending runoff. Leading the Quakers at Little State were Bill Rogers, who finished second in 1941 and third in 1942, and John Rogers, who placed third in 1941 and seventh in 1942. Also leading the pack in 1941 were Eddie Jordan (fifth), Roy Hamilton (15th) and Earl Smith (16th). Team members included Ray Davis, Wayne Guernsey, Frank Burnet, Mark Kishego, John Nicholson, Marlowe Hawkins, Marion Alexander, John Butler, Ken Harger, Ken Jones and Ron McCloud.
