This team coached by Blair Gullion posted the only undefeated regular season in Earlham tennis history. That year, the Quakers shutout St. Xavier twice by scores of 7-0, swept Ball State 5-2 and 7-0, and downed DePauw 5-3 and 4-3. Earlham defeated Butler 5-2 in their first match, then tied the Bulldogs, 3-3. Earlham placed fourth in the Indiana state tournament. The team was led by captains Robert Brooks ’36 and Donald Maris ’40. Brooks was 9-4 at number-one singles and Maris was 10-1 at number-two singles. They combined for an 8-2 record at number-one doubles. Bill Burbank ’35 and Philip Hedrick ’37 were 5-3 and 7-2 at number-three and number-four singles, respectively. Burbank teamed with Roderic Davis ’36 for a 5-1 mark at number-two doubles. Robert Moore ’37 and Davis played singles and doubles for the Quakers.
